They range in size from 12 13. 5 cms in length and weigh between 12 and 14 grams. The plumage is sexually dimorphic with the male being more colourful. The female matches the male in pattern but with brown grey plumage instead of black. Artwork has been created by Tasmanian artist Pamela Skromanis
